Highlights of the 2021 CodeQuest International Youth Programming Competition Summer Competition
CodeQuest provides an environment for young people from all over the world to come together and compete using the Python programming language combined with strategic thinking.
The 2021 Global National Group Championship and the Runner-up were both won by young contestants from Taiwan, and the runner-up only had one year of programming experience!
The 2024 CodeQuest Winter Competition is in full swing. The young contestants who missed it last year must be eager to try it out. Let’s sign up for the 2024 CodeQuest Taiwan Qualifiers (Winter Competition)!
Participants
Primary school group: Grades 1 to 6
Middle school group: junior high school grades 1 to 3, senior high school grades 1 to 3
Competition time
Preliminary round: January 18, 2024, 9:00 AM - February 18, 2024, 17:00 PM (online competition)
Competition standard: CodeCombat Computer Science Introduction 1 (CS1 level)
Finals: March 3, 2024, 13:00~17:00 PM (physical competition)
Competition standard: CodeCombat Computer Science 2-3 (CS2-3 level)
The final winners will be nominated to participate

Q1: How to contact the competition organizer?

Q2: How to log in to the competition page?

Q3: What is the difference between the winter season and the summer season?
A3: The top 15 finalists in both the national group and middle school group finals can be promoted to the CodeQuest World Championship in August each year. However, the top 15 finalists in the winter group will have the opportunity to go to the ICE Asia Pacific Championship to hone their skills with international players again.
Q4: Can we form teams based on schools or classes to participate?
A4: Yes, the group registration period is from now until 12:00 noon on January 20, 2024. Each participant is charged NT$350. Registration is done online . Only public and private schools, cram schools, daycare centers or other educational institutions can register through teachers.
Q5: Can I participate if I don’t have any programming background?
A5: Students without programming knowledge can also participate. The organizer provides options such as Computer Science 1 (CS1) online learning resources and camp activities , so that contestants can not only learn programming happily, but also compete and communicate with other contestants.
Q6: Are there any restrictions on the programming languages used in the competition?
A6: Yes, but the contestants are required to write in Python programming language.
Q7: In what format will this competition be held?
A7: The entire competition will utilize the CodeCombat platform, and both the preliminary and final rounds will be conducted online.
Q8: How is the competition scored?
A8: Points are calculated and ranked based on the results of the students' code battles in the Programming Arena. Players can challenge their opponents multiple times and upload code to compete for promotion and score accumulation. For details, please refer to the Taiwan Qualifiers Brochure .
Q9: How difficult is the competition at each stage?
A9:
1. Preliminary round requires CodeCombat Computer Science Introduction 1 (CS1 level)
2. Finalists must pass CodeCombat Computer Science 2-3 (CS2-3 level)
3. ICE Challenge Asia Pacific and CodeQuest Global competitions require CodeCombat Computer Science 4 (CS4 or above)
Q10: Is there any fee to participate in the competition?
A10: The only registration fee required is 450 yuan.
Q11: Can I continue to modify the code within the competition time limit?
A11: Yes, changes and amendments can be made until the competition deadline.
